2009 Pearland Volleyball Classic Tournament Information...

Coaches and Parents,

Welcome to Pearland ISD for the 2009 Pearland Volleyball Classic.

Parking Guidelines

There are no parking fees at any of the sites! Below is a list of each site and the do’s/don’ts regarding parking at that school.

  • Pearland High School North – Parking will be allowed in both parking lots at the high school. The web site has the highlighted areas that you are allowed to park in for the day. Please follow those guidelines or you will be towed! We highly suggest that all school buses and fans park in the grass area along the side of the North Campus parking lots leading out to the back of the school. If the parking lot gets full, we will offer shuttle bus service throughout the day until 2:00 p.m. The shuttle bus will drop you off or pick you up in the parking area located behind the football stadium behind the school. If you park in the areas listed as “no parking” you will be towed!!!
  • Pearland Junior High South – Parking will be allowed in the parking area by the tennis courts and also in the front of the school. No parking in the red zones at all! There should be plenty of room at this location!
  • Dawson High School – This school has yet to open and we will have updated information sometime during the summer.
  • Berry Miller Junior High – Parking will be allowed in the back by the gym and also out in front where the visitors parking is located.

Admissions

The cost of a single day ticket will be $8.00. A tournament pass will be sold for $22.00 on the first day only! No passes will be allowed from any district or coaching organization. Tournament programs will be sold at each site. The cost of the programs has yet to be determined.

Linesperson

Each team must supply a linesperson for each match that they play in during the tournament. It can either be a player or an adult. There will be officials used for semis, third place, and the championship match.

Concession Stands

The locations that will have concession stands as of now are PHS and DHS. We are possibly working on the other two sites setting up concession stands for their locations also.

Sportsmanship for Players/Coaches/Fans

There will be no verbal or physical abuse of an official at any time during the tournament. Any person that is guilty of this will be denied access to the tournament for the remaining days of competition from the time the incident occurs. Police will be on duty at the sites to escort unruly patrons. Players/coaches must display good conduct to officials and opposing teams.

Tiebreakers for Division Play

The following tie break rules will apply when a tie occurs at the end of division play.

2-Way Tie – Head to Head Results; if still tied then we will go by game ratio percentage; if still tied then we will go by total points for and against each team in their division.

3-Way Tie – Head to Head with each team; if still tied then we will go by game ratio percentage; if still tied then we will go by total points for and against each team in the division.

Entering and Leaving a Facility

All fans must enter and exit each location as designated by the signs located at each site. No fans, players, or coaches are allowed in the halls of any school. Any teams caught disturbing the school atmosphere will be penalized accordingly per the tournament director – John Turner. There are no exceptions to this rule! Please keep the players and fans in the playing area and foyer of each site. No students are allowed to be outside wandering around in the front of any of the playing sites for any reason at all. Stay with your teams and do not wander the campuses.

Warm-ups for each Court

Coaches, you have an allotted amount of time to warm up for your matches. The first match of the day you will be allowed 3 minutes ball handling, 4 minutes of hitting each, then 1 minute of serving together. After the initial first match of the day for your team, then you will immediately go into your 4 minutes of hitting each and then one minute of serving. There will be no exceptions to this rule. If your team is late, you will be given the amount of time that is left when you arrive. There will be a cart of balls on each half court for each team to warm up with during their designated time. I highly suggest that the team doing ball handling while the other team hits only uses a minimum amount of balls so the team hitting has a sufficient amount.

Tournament Results

The brackets at each site will be updated as soon as the matches have be completed and reported to the main site – PHS. Please do not update the brackets with your pen or marker that is the site director’s responsibility! We will also send results to all the newspapers that we have for each region of Texas. The web site will have results at the end of each day.
